Description

Civil War Period Officer's Cartridge Box, Sling, and Baldric of the Philadelphia, Pa. Old Guard State Fencibles. Brass bound cartridge box with separately affixed letters OGSF/1813, the date the regiment was founded. Box with some crazing on the tarred finish but excellent. The 2¼" wide sling has a heavy leather backing with gold bullion tape facing with red bands. The classic brass baldric device incorporates an eagle on shield attached to the lion head with three chains. Heavy brass buckle, tip and adjusting loop. Sling overall excellent with just a few "wrinkles" and some loose stitching along the border where it attaches to the leather backing. Very nice set and the first we've seen identified to this unit.
