Readily Restorable Example of the Very Rare Civil War Butterfield .44 Caliber Percussion Army Revolver, #116 Matching, including both grips, with a total production of only 640 guns. Nicely marked on top of the brass frame "Butterfield's/ Patent Dec. 11, 1855/ Philada". The obverse brass frame side plate, knurled knob cap for the priming device and spring loaded lever catch are all nicely made hand crafted restorations. Overall the metal is generally smooth with just some scattered light to medium pitting on the cylinder and trigger. The original portion of the brass frame is excellent. The original numbered grips have several chips/cracks as is evidenced by the photographs but also restorable. A moderately priced example of this rare Civil War handgun.Auction Info
