Description
J. P. Sauer & Son Double-Barrel Shotgun. 12 gauge. Serial number 207802. 30" Fluid Steel Krupp barrels with a slightly tapered concave matte rib with an ivory front and mid bead. Total weight about six pounds, 46ΒΌ" in total length, 14" LOP, 2" DAC, and 3" DAH. Double triggers. The case-colored action is engraved with beautifully detailed floral embellishments and a game bird scene and the Sauer and Son name appears on both sides of the action. Beautifully checkered European walnut stock and fore arm. Small gold escutcheon inset into the lower edge of the butt, un-engraved but intended for the owner's initials. There are many German proofs present on the action and barrel including a crown over "U", crown over "S", crown over "VT" and nitro proofs. The finish on the barrels is strong and has developed a beautiful patina; the action still retains the majority of the original case coloring and the stock shows little wear. This is a superb shotgun in fine condition.Auction Info
