Description
Rare C. 1850 Butcher's Patent Surgeon's Capital Bone Saw. Modified bow configuration saw as patented by Dr. Richard Butcher in 1851. The unique feature of the saw is that the blade can be rotated to cut at any angle. 11 1/2" overall with 8" blade, all iron/steel construction. Pistol grip with checkered ivory plaque grips. Grips perfect with nice aged mellow patina. Complete and original in every respect. Metal with overall dark patina and some scattered areas of salt and peppering, completely untouched. Excellent example of this scarce and desirable pre Civil War surgical saw.Auction Info
