Description

French 19th Century Carabinier's Cuirass. Polished brass front and back plate with silvered trim. Both pieces were made by Klingenthal, the front plate dated June, 1833; the back plate April, 1831. The front plate bears a large central German silver guard's star and a gilded French Imperial eagle. The leather-backed shoulder chains and brass connecting pieces are present, as is the leather waist strap and brass buckle. The leather backing of the right shoulder chain is broken but could be easily repaired. There are a few shallow dents and scratches, mainly on the rear plate, and the front plate needs to have the fingerprints polished off, otherwise the cuirass is beautiful and in excellent condition.
