Description
William Trego, Eight Studies of Artillerymen, ca. 1901, graphite sketch on paper, mounted on board, 19" x 25", unsigned. The drawing is pictured and listed in the James A. Michener Art Museum's Catalogue Raisonne of William T. Trego's works. The catalogue states, "Seven of these eight figures were used in the pen and ink drawing, Awaiting Orders to Cross the Burnside Bridge, an illustration Trego did for the book, Durells' Battery in the Civil War, in 1901. Very likely one model posed for all eight of the figures." The sketch was known, but missing from the catalogue of Trego's works until the owner contacted the James A. Michener Art Museum in June of 2011. The drawing is in fair condition with water stains and some losses in the corners.Auction Info
