Description
Perfect Condition Civil War US Navy Goodyear's Patent Hard Rubber Soap/Shaving Box. 3 1/4" diameter, 1 1/2" high. Fabricated entirely of hard brown rubber with Goodyear's patent markings, including 1851 date, around the rim of the dark toned underside. Top with rays surrounding central motif of U. S. N. over fouled anchor surrounded by slightly larger circle including the motto Don't Give Up The Ship and intertwined rope. Knurling around the outer rim of the top. Mirror inside the lid perfect, with the same Goodyear's patent information around the outer rim. Even retains the small brass loop for hanging the mirror while shaving.
