Description
U. S. Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor Military Rifle. Serial No. 171657, .45-70 caliber, 32½-inch round barrel with fixed front sight and adjustable rear sight. Blued with case-colored lock. Two barrel bands, two sling swivels and cleaning rod. Marked U.S./ MODEL/ 1873 on the breechblock. Walnut stock with faint firing proof and inspector's cartouche.Condition: Good. Finish with a uniform plum brown patina with scattered light pitting and wear to the lock. Locking lacking one rivet. Stock moderately worn with scattered scratches and bruises. A small "I" is lightly carved into the left side of the stock. Bore a bit dark but generally clean.
