Description
Arkansas and Texas Land Company Certificate. One page partially printed, 7.5" x 12.25"; New York; April 27, 1831. Signed by trustees T. L. Ogden, Daniel Jackson, and Edward Curtis. This document, marked as "No. 292", certifies that "John Enrico of New York is entitled to the right and benefit of Four Sitios of Land [17,714 acres] more or less . . . situate in Texas, and included within the following boundaries. . . ." Enrico has signed on the verso.This grant of land in the Texas Panhandle was located at the southwest corner of a grant given to Reuben Ross, who would later fight at the Battle of San Jacinto. The Arkansas and Texas Land Company was replaced by the New Arkansas and Texas Land Company in 1833. From the Robert E. Davis Collection.
Condition: On rice paper; very fragile with chips of paper loss along all edges and tape remnants at all four corners. Bit of ink burn affects engrossment. Uneven toning, darker at edges.
