Description

12 Gauge Sidelock Ejector Double Barrel Shotgun with Case by E. J. Churchill . Serial no. 1724, 12 gauge, 30-inch barrels marked: E. J. Churchill, Gun and Rifle Manufacturer / 8 Agar St. Strand, London WC. with matted concave rib with extension. Double white beads. Case-hardened action with bar action 8 pin locks. Beaded fences. Non-automatic safety. Ejectors. Square crossbolt third fastener. Action and locks engraved with 80% very fine foliate scroll. Monogram on underside of action. Checkered straight grip stock of well figured wood with considerable light fiddleback. Older Silver's style recoil pad. Checkered splinter fore-end with Anson-style release and small diamond shaped fastener. Gun dates to 1907. Later Red Head leg of mutton leather case with brass hardware.
Data: Barrel Dimensions: Bores: 0.726/0.733-inches. Chokes: 0.003/0.040-inches. (Cylinder/Full). Chambers: 2 3/4-inches. Minimum wall thickness: 0.029-inches. Proof: London Nitro, 13/1, 13/1, 1 1/8 oz., 12c. Note: Barrels are out of proof due to lengthened chambers and left barrel due to enlarged bore. Stock Dimensions: Pull: 14-inches. Drop at comb: 1 1/2-inches. Drop at heel: 2 5/8-inches. Cast: None. Weight: 7 pounds, 4 ounces. Condition: Fine, as redone. Barrels show 98-99% reblued finish. Excellent bright bores with some slight rivelling. Action and locks shows 96-98% redone case colors. Action and barrels show very slight looseness. Stock shows a refreshed finish an a few light marks. Fore-end shows some cracks around diamond shaped fastener with the wood slightly lifting. Case in fine condition with slight scuffing.
