Description
Apollo 15 Flown Snagging Line with Stowage Bag. This approximately 10 foot long stainless steel snagging line was stored aboard the Command Module in the case that splashdown occurred beyond the range of the recovery helicopter. The process at that point would be to deploy the hook line out of the hatch pressure valve opening to snag onto the sea anchor line. This would then slow the drift of the Command Module as they waited for recovery. Stowage bag has Part No. V36-787019-51 on inside, which correlates to the Apollo 15 mission.
