Description
Apollo 13: Remarkably Large Section of Apollo 13 Flown Kapton Foil, with Additional Small Segment. Incredibly rare large section, measuring approximately 7.5" x 2.5" (at the larger end) accompanied by a second smaller piece measuring approximately 1.375" x .875", of the delicate Kapton foil from the Apollo 13 Command Module Odyssey. This valuable heat deflecting material was crucial in the safe return for the crew as they re-entered the Earth's atmosphere following the near-disastrous mission. Normally sold in tiny fragments, pieces this size are very scarce. Included with this lot is an LOA from The Right Stuff Inc. signed by Sandy Clarkson. Very fine condition.Auction Info
