Description

Ex. John Young

Apollo 10 Flown Flag of Texas Directly from the John W. Young Collection, with Letter of Certification. A 6" x 4.25" cloth Texas "Lone Star" flag that flew to the moon on the all-important Apollo 10 mission, the "dress rehearsal" for the upcoming Apollo 11 landing, with Tom Stafford, Gene Cernan, and John Young aboard. Excellent.

Included with this lot is a Letter of Certification signed by Young's widow, Susy Young. It reads, in full: "I hereby certify that the flag of the STATE OF TEXAS that accompanies this letter was flown to the Moon aboard the Apollo 10 mission May 18-26, 1969. It has been a part of John W. Young's personal collection since returning from the mission. The flag has a holographic tamper-proof label attached, #1733192, to ensure authenticity, that will display a residual honeycomb design without number if removed."
