O LORD JESUS CHRIST glorify here upon earth Thy Servant, Elizabeth Ann Seton, by manifesting the power of her intercession through the favor I now implore. (Here mention your intention.) Hasten, dear Lord, the day when Mother Seton may be declared a Saint by Holy Mother Church. This I beg of Thee through the intercession of Thy Immaculate Mother, the Queen of Saints. Amen."

Elizabeth Ann Seton (1774-1821) is known as the founder of the parochial school system and the first Catholic girl's school in America, also founding the first American congregation of religious sisters, the Sisters of Charity. She was finally canonized on September 14, 1975, by Pope Paul VI. His words: "Elizabeth Ann Seton is a saint. St. Elizabeth Ann Seton is an American. All of us say this with special joy, and with the intention of honoring the land and the nation from which she sprang forth as the first flower in the calendar of the saints. Elizabeth Ann Seton was wholly American! Rejoice for your glorious daughter. Be proud of her. And know how to preserve her fruitful heritage." Seton's feast day is January 4, the eleventh day of Christmastide and the anniversary of her death. She is the patron saint of seafarers and widows and is venerated by both the Catholic and Episcopal churches.
