Description

Apollo 13 Flown and Crew-Signed Beta Cloth Mission Insignia Inscribed to Stan Jacobsen, Assistant Chief of the Manned Spacecraft Center Publications Branch. An 8" square mission emblem that was flown on Apollo 13, NASA's "most successful failure." It is signed in black inks around the emblem (quite faded): "Fred Haise", "James Lovell", and "Jack Swigert". In an unknown hand (dark, unfaded) is the following inscription above and below: "To Stan Jacobsen with sincere thanks and best wishes from Apollo 13. This patch was flown to the moon on Apollo 13." Jacobsen's department was involved in designing mission insignias and materials. This is the first crew-signed flown Beta from the mission that Heritage has ever offered. Tape stain at right edge would mat out. Fine. From the Family Collection of Jacques Bracke
