Description

Apollo 12 Crew-Signed "Type One" Insurance Cover with "Bishop" Mission Insignia Cachet [with] Color Photo. A philatelic cover with the 10¢ "First Man on the Moon" (Scott #C76) stamp affixed, bearing a pictorial machine cancellation from Kennedy Space Center dated November 14, 1969, the day that Apollo 12 was launched. The color cachet features the mission insignia. It has been boldly signed in black felt tip: "Charles Conrad Jr", "Dick Gordon", and "Alan L Bean". No astronaut provenance included. Included, for purposes of display or matting, is a glossy 8" x 10" color print of the crew posed in white spacesuits. Excellent.

These covers, signed by the crew prior to launch, were intended for sale to support their families should a fatal accident occur. They are considered among the most desirable Apollo-era philatelic artifacts due to their direct connection to mission risk and astronaut legacy. From the Family Collection of Jacques Bracke
