Apollo 9 Flown Heat Shield Ablator Plug Segment in Acrylic Paperweight Display from North American. A 1.5" long quarter-round section of the heat shield charred by the intense heat of re-entry, contained in a half-capsule shaped display, 3.5" x 3". The Apollo 9 mission insignia is incorporated into the design of the front. The back (paperweight bottom) bears the text: "Apollo 9 First Manned Flight CSM/LM Earth Orbit Mission. 240 Hours, 33 Min. In Space 10.1 Days. Re-Entry Speed 17,699 M.P.H. Temp of H/S Ablator 4012º F. March 3 Thru March 13, 1969". Very fine.Auction Info
