Description

Genuine Apollo Hardware

Apollo Command Module Pressure Window Assembly, North American Aviation, 1964-1965. A substantial rectangular spacecraft window assembly measuring approximately 18" × 17.5", machined from stainless steel with integral bolt flange drilled for cabin-pressure mounting and fitted with an internal acrylic pressure pane retained by a red-orange gasket. The flange face bears multiple North American Aviation (NAA) and government contract identification marks, including: "V16-321424," "V16-321500-902," and "S/N 06362". Under NASA Contract NAS 9-150, awarded in late 1961, North American Aviation's Space & Information Systems Division (Downey, California) served as prime contractor for the Apollo Command & Service Module and associated spacecraft adapter, including the design and fabrication of the Command Module pressure vessel, with primary activity during the early 1960s. A genuine Apollo spacecraft pressure window assembly, complete with visible North American Aviation serial and inspection marks, dated 1964-65, representing the engineering precision and manufacturing heritage of the Command Module that carried astronauts to the Moon. Pieces of Apollo crew-compartment hardware with intact manufacturer's data are exceedingly scarce outside institutional collections. This example, with its documented serials and early production dates, is an exceptional artifact of Apollo spacecraft development. Overall fine.
