Skylab II (SL-3) Flown Garland Mechanical Pencil. from Mission Commander Alan Bean's Personal Collection, with Certificate of Authenticity. A 5" long, slim, chrome-colored mechanical pencil, Garland Model 35-P, manufactured by Lew Manufacturing Co. of Coventry, Rhode Island. The Part Number "SEB12100081-301" and the Serial Number "1241" are both engraved into the barrel. Added at the top is a piece of Velcro to facilitate attachment and storage inside the spacecraft. This is the same model pencil used by many of the Apollo missions. This particular pencil flew nearly twenty-five million miles in earth orbit during the fifty-nine day mission, July 28-September 25, 1973. Very fine.
