Description

Ex. James McDivitt
From the Roy Gutzke Collection

Apollo 9 Flown Largest Size American Flag Originally from the Personal Collection of Mission Commander Jim McDivitt, Signed and Certified, in Framed Display. A silk 18" x 11.25" U.S. flag neatly signed in black felt tip: "Flown on Apollo 9/ Jim McDivitt" on the second and third white stripes. Matted with an engraved plaque that gives the details of the mission and states: "From The Personal Collection Of Jim McDivitt". Perfect for display. Framed to an overall 25" x 24.5". Flattened folds. Excellent.

This was the third manned Apollo mission, March 3-13, 1969, with crewmembers McDivitt, Dave Scott, and Rusty Schweickart aboard. It was the first flight of the Lunar Module. The testing accomplished during its ten days in low earth orbit proved the LM worthy of manned spaceflight, an important step in the race to a manned moon landing just four months later.
