Description

Ex. Alan Bean

Apollo 12 Crew-Signed "Type One (Bishop)" Signed and Certified Insurance Cover, from Mission Lunar Module Pilot Alan Bean's Family Collection, with Certificate of Authenticity. The three bold signatures, "Charles Conrad Jr.", "Dick Gordon", and "Alan L. Bean", all in black felt-tip, are neatly placed on this Apollo 12 insurance cover, 6.5" x 3.625", featuring the "First Man on the Moon" U.S. airmail stamp (Scott #C76). It was cancelled on the day of launch, November 14, 1969, at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The cachet features the Apollo 12 mission insignia with "Yankee Clipper" (the Command Module) and "Intrepid" (the Lunar Module) printed below, along with a Navy Wing insignia. Signed on the verso: "Insurance cover from my collection/ Alan Bean/ Apollo 12 LMP". All three members of the crew were Navy pilots, thus the naval theme of the insignia and the ship call signs. Apollo 12 was the second mission to leave these insurance covers behind for their loved ones in case of a tragedy. Excellent. From the estate of Moonwalker and Artist Alan Bean.
