Ex. Michael Collins

Gemini 10 Flown Embroidered Mission Insignia Patch Originally from the Personal Collection of Mission Pilot Michael Collins, with Handwritten and Signed Letter of Authenticity. This 3.375" x 3" patch (Crew Patch by Texas Art Embroidery) flew with crewmembers John Young and Michael Collins aboard the earth-orbit Gemini 10 mission, July 18-21, 1966. The insignia is simple but symbolic. There is a large red Roman numeral "X" against a light blue background with two spacecraft orbiting it- a Gemini capsule and an Agena Target Vehicle. There are two stars in gold signifying either the two crewmembers, the two rendezvous, and/or the two "twin" stars in the Gemini constellation, Castor and Pollux. It is one of the few mission patches without the crew's names. Included is an LOA on Collins' notepaper reading: "This Gemini X crew patch was carried on the flight (July 1966) to a world altitude record. Mike Collins/ January 8, 2004". Rare. Only the second Collins patch Heritage has offered. Excellent. From the Family Collection of Jacques Bracke.
