Description
Unusual Civil War Medical Canteen the first example of this form we've ever seen. 11" diameter tin with convex faces, 3 1/2" thick. Originally made with three tin sling loops, one now missing. Original rather small pewter threaded spout which is soldered in place. Dark brown wool felt cover with considerable mothing but about 75% intact. The canteen has no dents. Accompanied by an old typewritten tag "Rare Medical Dept. Canteen". A most unusual Civil War canteen.Auction Info
