Description

Large Lot of Dug Buttons and Relics Found near Dunker Church at Antietam. The consigner indicates that these historical items came from a farmer's private field behind Dunker Church on the Antietam battlefield. The farmer would leave items on fence posts for the tourists that visited the battlefield. The group consists of a total of seventy items, mostly buttons. Included are twenty-two 19mm Union frock coat buttons, thirty-two 14mm shell jacket buttons, buttons from Pennsylvania, New York and Vermont, a cavalry, infantry and artillery button, Hardee hat eagle, and McClellan saddle tag. An interesting group of dug battlefield relics in as found condition.
