Description

Lot of Thirteen Union General Staff Buttons and Two Bullion and Sequin General's Rank Stars Attributed to Confederate Brigadier Alexander Robert Lawton. Includes thirteen 22mm, high convex brass buttons with "SCOVILL MF'G CO / WATERBURY" and "EXTRA QUALITY" backmarks. Also included are two gold bullion and sequin rank stars mounted to a 4" x 7" stiff cardboard backing. All items in excellent condition. Verbally attributed by the consignor to Confederate Brigadier General Alexander Lawton (1818-1896) who participated in many early engagements during the war, his last being Antietam, where he was severely wounded. After a long recovery he became the Confederacy's second Quartermaster General.
