Description

Civil War Painted Knapsack Marked "10, M.V.M." Possibly stands for the 10th Regiment, Massachusetts Volunteer Militia. Also stenciled on the other side of the pouch " G 10." The patten mark on the canvas reads "Pat'd. Nov 12, 1861, Jan. 28, & Dec.12 1862". All buckles and strapping intact. The knapsack has been torn on the front inside corner with some missing black paint as found. A very fine early example.
