Description

James Monroe Signed Land Grant. One sheet of vellum, 13" x 8", City of Washington; July 18, 1820. A document granting "James Cuin assignee of John Caleote," four hundred and fifteen acres of land in Mississippi. Countersigned by Joseph Meigs as Commissioner of the General Land office.

Condition: Uneven toning and soiling. The document has been closely trimmed; the top right corner has been snipped and a one inch by five inch strip has been cut off along the right margin. Loss of material from vermin damage, more so at top left. Folds and creasing.

Provenance: From the Private Collection of a Mississippi Gentleman.
