Description
[Slavery.] 1844 Slave Plantation Agreement. One page, 8" x 12.5", Bradley County, Arkansas; December 17, 1844. A handwritten agreement to rent slaves and a plantation, reading in part: "...in the sum of one thousand dollars...it being for the rent of said Ridgell's plantation and negroes for one year". Signed by both buyer and seller at the bottom.Condition: Flattened folds with separations along folds and a few small holes. Uneven toning, foxing, and soiling throughout. Large ink stain at the left edge.
