Description
Louis XIV Document Signed. One page, 19 ¼ x 13 inches, Marly[-le-Roi]; March 6, 1698. Untranslated document addressed to "Bailly de Vesoul." The Chateau de Marly was completed the same year that the Sun King signed this document. He only allowed access to a few privileged courtiers and etiquette there was significantly more relaxed, allowing the royal family and their guests to enjoy parties, gatherings, and hunting excursions.Condition: Creased along folds with cut at lower right margin, not affecting text. Two small holes along the left and right margins, the latter of which slightly affects text. Margins stained and toned, particularly the lower margin. A red pencil line to the lower center of the document, slightly affecting text.
