Description

Henri Guy de Maupassant Autograph Signed Letter. One page of a bifolium, 4.25" x 6.5", Paris, undated. In French on his personal letterhead imprinted with his initials, to an unknown recipient. The letter is not translated, but content is regarding rehearsals for a theater performance and making a reference to a "collaborator". Signed, "Guy de Maupassant" followed by a postscript stating that he has attended four or five of the last rehearsals.

Although undated, the letter is possibly circa 1875, at which time he wrote a comedy and included a role for himself titled, "Á la feuille de rose, maison turque."

Condition: Lightly toned, mail crease at center, archival tape along edge on verso.

Le n'ait ete, avec mon collaborateur, qu 'a la seizieme ou la dix septieme. les choses m'ont paru bien, les acteurs tus lous at daus la note juste. j'ai laissé faire su donnoust a peine quelques conseils. Recevez, cher monsieur, l'assurances de mes sentiments cordialment devoues.
