[Abraham Lincoln]. William H. Herndon's Copy of The Monthly Law Reporter. New Series. - Vol. IV. No. IX. Edited by George P. Sanger. Boston: Charles C. Little and James Brown, January 1852. 8vo. Uncut and untrimmed, with original printed wrappers. Signed, "W.H. Herndon" at top of the front wrapper. This volume would have been part of the Lincoln/Herndon law office library while the men practiced law together in Springfield, Illinois. Housed in a custom clamshell case.Condition: Front wrapper has a single vertical fold at center, with loss at top of spine and wear at bottom. Light foxing throughout. Creasing and small tears along bottom. Light foxing to the first few pages.
