Presentation copy, signed and inscribed by the author to the front free endpaper recto, "To Miss Virginia Kracke / In appreciation for your great support / Martin Luther King Jr.'' Octavo. Publisher's gold boards backed in black cloth, spine stamped in gilt and red. Gold-colored endpapers. Original illustrated dust jacket.

This copy is signed and inscribed to one Virginia Kracke, presumably the daughter of Dr. Roy Kracke, an Alabama native and an influential player in improving race and gender equality in medical practices of the South.

Condition: Corners bumped, minor edgewear, lettering on spine lightly rubbed. Internally clean and tight; light scattered foxing, text block edges with minor wear and foxing. Dust jacket unclipped ($4.95); minor edgewear, chipping to head and foot of spine and corners, spine lightly sunned, some light scattered dampstains chiefly to corners, somewhat rubbed and soiled.
