George Armstrong Custer: Carte de Visite of Custer and Family Members Killed during the Battle of Little Bighorn. 2.5" x 4.25". This wet plate albumen bears an oval portrait of Custer, surrounded by four members of his family, clockwise from upper left: Custer's brother-in-law, Lt. James Calhoun; his brother, Capt. Tom Custer; his youngest brother, Boston Custer; and his nephew, Harry Armstrong Reed. All five men perished at the Battle of Little Bighorn on June 25, 1876. Photographer's imprint on the front of the mount. Produced in Monroe, Michigan, where Custer lived for a time, this composite image was made sometime after the battle. Not listed in Katz's Custer in Photographs.
