Description

Anson Jones Signed Land Grant. Single vellum sheet, 15 ½ x 13 ½ inches; Austin, Texas; September 23, 1845. The grant is issued to the "Heirs of Jacob Stifler" for one league and one labor of land, the amount given with a first class headright. We could not find any information for Stifler, but it is likely that he was an early settler, arriving in Texas before March 6, 1836. With blind embossed paper seal still attached at left with a ribbon. Boldly signed, "Anson Jones."

Condition: Deep folds as document has been stored folded. Scattered foxing, with dark edges. Points of loss of material where folds intersect along center and at the edges.
