An Original Unused Garth Williams Drawing from Charlotte's Web
Garth Williams (American 1912-1996). Original preliminary drawing for illustration #9 (appearing on page 21) of Charlotte's Web, 1952: Lurvy tries unsuccessfully to catch an escaping Wilbur. Ink on paper. Approximately 12.75 x 10.5 inches. Signed in full by Williams and dated 1952 at lower right. Also with Williams' notation in pencil: "First drawing of the scene -- this was redrawn for the book. Garth." Matted at some point, the image area shows minor toning; masking tape to top edge of reverse. Else fine.Auction Info
