First American edition, first state of imprint ("Franklin Press"), second state of text (corrected). Octavo. 411 pages. With 192 in-text illustrations. Publisher's original green cloth, front board and spine decorated in black and gilt. White endpapers, all edges trimmed.

Condition: Some scuffing and minor wear to boards, corners bumped and rubbed, head and tail of spine pushed. Gilt bright and in better condition than usually found. Ink gift inscription to front free endpaper recto. Mild toning to textblock, scattered thumbsoiling. Near fine.
