Ayn Rand. Atlas Shrugged. New York: Random House, [1957]. First edition, first printing stated on the copyright page. Signed and inscribed by the author to the half-title page, "To Mary Carter - / - Cordially - / Ayn Rand / 4/12/61." Large octavo. 1168, [1, blank], [3, about the author] pages. Publisher's teal cloth stamped in gilt, spine stamped in black and lettered in gilt; original illustrated first issue dust jacket, restored. Corners just bumped, minor edgewear, head and foot of just spine pushed, sprung. Tan endpapers, top and tail edges trimmed, fore-edge rough-trimmed, top edge stained dark blue. Internally clean; gutter at title page weak but holding, minor foxing and wear to text block edges. Dust jacket unclipped ($6.95) with 10/57 price code at the bottom of the front flap and without reviews; professionally restored spine and edges, minor edgewear, creased along folds. Housed in black cloth clamshell case backed in black morocco, spine stamped in gilt. Very good book with very good dust jacket.Auction Info
