8vo. Publisher's black cloth with gilt lettering within a geometric design on upper cover and gilt lettering to the spine; original light gray dust jacket printed in dark blue and brown including quotations from contemporary authors praising Hemingway's work on the upper cover.

FIRST AMERICAN EDITION, FIRST PRINTING with publisher's device on the copyright page. Hemingway's second book, and his first to be published in the US. This edition was preceded only by the limited edition of 170 copies printed in Paris in 1924. Uncommon in the scarce dust jacket, this first printing was limited to only 1,335 copies.

Condition: Light edgewear to spine ends with some fading at the head of the spine. Dust jacket unclipped (priced "$2.00") reinforced on the verso at the spine and folds.
