Williams. New York: Harper & Brothers, [1945].8vo. Publisher's beige cloth stamped and decorated, pictorial endpapers. Original pictorial dust jacket. Housed in a custom quarter morocco clamshell.
FIRST EDITION, IN THE FIRST STATE DUST JACKET. INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY WHITE, on the front free endpaper: "Bernice / with greetings from / E. B. White." First edition, with publisher's code "I-U" on copyright page.
It is rare to find any E. B. White book signed or inscribed, his first book especially so.
Condition: Small stain to front cover, a few abrasions to rear cover, small hole to spine. Dust jacket price-clipped, spine sunned, mild toning, a few chips and other edgewear, small abrasion to spine panel recto, tape residue and abrasion to spine panel verso.
