E. B. White. The Points of My Compass. New York: Harper & Row, [1962].8vo. Original cloth-backed boards, gilt-lettered on spine; dust jacket.
FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY. INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR on the front free endpaper: "Gale Hinckley / for old times sake and with affectionate greetings / Andy White / EBS / North Brooklin." The recipient, Gale M. Hinckley, was a neighbor of White's in Maine and owned a hardware store near White's farm.
Condition: Slight rubbing to extremities. Dust jacket unclipped (priced "$4.00"), with very minor wear at edges with a few closed tears, otherwise fine.
Provenance: Gale M. Hinckley (presentation inscription and her bookplate).

Very slight toning to spine and upper board edges, otherwise fine; lacking dust jacket. Bookplate of recipient.
