8vo. Publisher's black cloth, spine lettered in gilt. Erratum slip tipped-in before dedication leaf. Original color pictorial dust jacket. Custom cloth folding case.

FIRST EDITION, FIRST PRINTING. PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY O'HARA TO FELLOW CONTRIBUTOR TO THE NEW YORKER HAROLD D. WINNEY on the front free endpaper: "To Harold D. Winney / 'Wrap it up, take it / home, give it to / the kiddies to play / with.' - Fadiman, New Yorker / John O'Hara / Sept. 28, 1934."

Harold D. Winney was a fellow contributor to The New Yorker, where O'Hara wrote for more than two decades.

Clifton Fadiman, intellectual, author, editor, literary critic, and noted radio and television host, was also a contributor to The New Yorker, serving first as a book reviewer and later as the book editor for almost ten years.

Condition: Minor staining to cloth. Scattered foxing. Dust jacket decoratively clipped, retaining price ($2.50), jacket spine and rear panel sunned, a few chips at edges.
