[Mormons]. Joseph Smith, Jun. The Book of Mormon, an account written by the hand of Mormon upon the plates taken by the plates of Nephi... First European, from the second American edition. Liverpool: Printed by J. Tompkins for Brigham Young, Heber C. Kimball, and Parley P. Pratt. By order of the translator, 1841. First European edition, and fourth edition overall. Twelvemo (5.25 x 3.5 inches; 137 x 85 mm.). [2, blank], [iv], [1]-634, [637] [sic]-643, [3, blank] pages. Bound in contemporary full calf boards decoratively stamped in blind and ruled in gilt, spine tooled and ruled in gilt in compartments, burgundy gilt morocco lettering label, later yellow coated endleaves. "Published under the guidance of Brigham Young, who did not seem aware of the American 1840 edition." (Flake and Draper). Flake and Draper 598.
