William Cullen Bryant. Thirty Poems. New York: D. Appleton and Company, 1864.

8vo. Publisher's brown cloth, spine stamped in gilt, boards blindstamped with a double rule frame, the inner rule twisted to a series of ten angular ornaments, yellow coated endpapers (BAL state A, no priority).

FIRST EDITION, FIRST STATE. PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR on the front free endpaper: "James Lawden Esq / with the kind regards of / William Cullen Bryant / December 1863." First state, with the misspelling "veielo" for "vuielo" in line 5 from the bottom on p. [213], and printed on wove paper.

Condition: Corners just bumped, head of spine pushed and beginning to tear, a few light stains. Ink transfer from inscription to front pastedown. A few stray spots.
