2 volumes, 12mo. Full scarlet levant morocco, sides with gilt triple fillet borders, spines elaborately gilt, doublures of blue levant morocco with gilt-tooled borders, linings of crimson moiré, edges gilt, by the Scroll Club Bindery; cloth slipcases.

FIRST EDITIONS. PRESENTATION COPIES, EACH VOLUME INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR on the half-title: "Mrs. Skirrow / with RB's affectionate regards," the first dated "Apr. 26 '79," and the second "June 27 '80." Mrs. Charles (Amelia Cherry) Skirrow is noted to be one of a small and devoted circle of women who were enamored of the aging Browning and well received by him. Contemporary reports record Mrs. Skirrow's many gifts and flirtations in her association with Browning.

Condition: Some very slight marginal toning.
