Foster, and Company, 1860. First edition, first issue. Octavo. iv,
[v, contents], [vi-viii, blank], 268 pages [6, blank] . Publisher's
brown cloth, spine lettered in gilt, boards decoratively stamped in
blind. Housed in a quarter-morocco clamshell case. Binding edges
worn with boards exposed at corners, spine ends sophisticated with
cloth trimmed, previous owner signature on front free endpaper,
intermittent foxing, heaviest at endpapers. Text bracketed in
holographic ink or pencil in margins of pages 20, 53, 55, 59-61 and
