First edition under this title. Small octavo. Approximately 6.75 x 3.75 inches. [iv], 360 pages, with addendum slip affixed to the final page. Contemporary brown sheep, skillfully rebacked preserving most of the original spine and burgundy gilt morocco label, later endleaves. Front upper corner restored. Some wear, soiling to binding. Text professionally cleaned with professional repairs to fore-edge of title-page, front blanks, and pages 269-360. Faint ownership markings to front blank, and previous owner's signature and notes to title-page. Still, a near fine restored example.

The first compilation of all state constitutions to be published in a single volume to be printed after the ratification of the Constitution of the United States. Included herein are the Declaration of Independence, The Articles of Confederation, The Constitution of the United States, and the constitutions of the original thirteen states, plus Vermont, Louisiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, Mississippi, Indiana, and Illinois.
