Description

[Texas Rangers]. Andrew J. Sowell Albumen, circa 1900, 4.25" x 5.75". A sepia toned seated portrait of Texas Ranger and Ranger Historian A. J. Sowell. Sowell served as a Ranger beginning in 1870 and wrote several histories of the Texas Rangers before his death in 1921. An inscription on the verso of this portrait reads "The Writer 1900 Laid down the Winchester and took up the pen." Moderate damage to edges of card and photograph, some dampstaining on bottom half of card.
