Description
Civil War: Three Dramatic Civil War Cartoons. Three interesting compositions depicting optimistic Northern points of view respective to the great conflict. A simply stunning colorful rendering titled "The Eagles Nest" shows the regal bird protecting its nest which is inclusive of all the states. Another cartoon depicts the contrasting illustrations of the National Bird as it appeared in 1857 which is strong and vigorous, versus its appearance in 1861 as a beaten and battered bird. The third cartoon titled, "5 To One HA." depicts the folly of the South as five confederate soldiers are shown fleeing in panic from Uncle Sam as he approaches from the left holding a bayonet. Sizes range from smallest at 11.25 x 13.75" to largest at 13.5" x 18.25".Condition: "The Eagles Nest" is mounted to a thin board stock as is the cartoon "5 To One HA". Otherwise these are in fine to extra fine condition.
