Description
John F. Kennedy: Clock Gifted by Friend of the President. 3.5" tall x 2.5" wide x 1" deep 18K gold and Rhodonite desk clock manufactured by Bulgari. The inside of the back cover is stamped "773" along with a diamond-shaped stamping, indicating it is made of 18K gold. The top bezel has a brass panel engraved "John F. Kennedy" (possibly added later). It is accompanied by a file of correspondence and documentation, most notably a letter from Evelyn Lincoln on White House stationery dated March 4, 1988. She indicates "... it was a gift to President John F. Kennedy from an Italian friend. This clock stood for some time on the book case to the west of his desk in the Oval Office and then was discarded because of the inconvenience of winding it and the winder finally broke off."Condition: Metal inscription plate re-attached.
