Confederate Cartes-de-Visite: James Jay Archer, George Thomas Anderson and Turner Ashby.
Three (3) cartes including James Jay Archer (1817-1864) by E & H.T. Anthony, New York; George Thomas Anderson (1824-1901) by Vannerson & Jones, Richmond; and Turner Ashby (1828-1862) by Selby & Delany, Baltimore. Archer distinguished himself at Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville and Gettysburg where he was captured, becoming the first general officer to be taken since Lee commanded the army. Anderson, nicknamed "Tige" served under Longstreet and was wounded at Second Bull Run and Gettysburg. Ashby, the "Black Knight of the Confederacy", served under Stonewall Jackson and was fatally wounded at Harrisonburg, Virginia on June 6,1862. From the collection of Dr. Michael Krane.
